Privacy policy

Last updated 19 August 2026

The short version

This site has no accounts, no sign-up and no contact form. It does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal detail, and it does not store the business numbers you look up. There is no advertising. Analytics are off unless you turn them on, and the hosting provider processes technical data needed to serve the site — both described below.

What happens when you check a number

A business registration number you enter is sent to the Korean National Tax Service’s public verification service, through the Korean public data portal, in order to return a result. It is not written to any database here and is not retained after the response is rendered.

On the authenticity check, the opening date and representative’s name you enter are sent the same way, for the same single purpose. The tax service compares them against its records and returns only whether they match. Those values are not stored here either.

Business registration numbers identify businesses rather than individuals. Note, however, that for a sole trader the representative’s name may also be personal information, so please enter such details only where you have a proper reason to check them.

Advertising

There is none. This site carries no advertising and no advertising network is building a profile of you from your visit. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated before it goes live rather than after.

Analytics and cookies

This site can use Google Analytics to count visits and see which guides are read. It is switched off by default: nothing is loaded, no request is made to Google, and no cookie is set unless you press Accept on the banner.

If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, no analytics code loads at all. Every check on this site works exactly the same either way — nothing is withheld for declining.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address, the pages you view and general device information, processed under Google’s privacy policy. This involves a transfer of data outside Korea and the EEA.

Business registration numbers you look up are stripped from the address before anything is sent to Google, so the numbers you check are not included in analytics data.

Your choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie, and you can change it at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.

Hosting and logs

The site runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes technical data necessary to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, including IP addresses and request metadata. This is standard server logging and is not used here to build any profile of you.

Your rights

Because this site holds no personal data of its own, there is nothing here to access, correct or erase. Requests concerning the technical data Cloudflare processes to deliver the site should be directed to Cloudflare, and — if you accepted analytics — requests about that data to Google. Each company’s privacy policy governs its own processing.

If you are in the EEA or UK, your rights under the GDPR apply to that processing in the normal way.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change with it. Material changes will be described rather than made silently.
